DIN / Euro Height Batteries

There are a few things that distinguish a DIN battery from regular car batteries. Firstly they all have recessed terminals so that the top of the battery is flat as they are commonly placed under seats or in the boot under the false floor. They all have wedged bases which are for mounting using feet clamps as opposed to a threaded rod and holder over the top of the battery. They are all typically 175mm high, but a revision was made for 190mm high batteries which are still referred to a DIN size. And lastly the naming conventions, in Europe they are DIN then 44 size is a general reference to capacity in AH and length as a 44ah battery might typically be 240mm long. DIN55, DIN66, DIN88 & DIN96 are other common sizes. You'll see in the codes of our batteries there is also a reference to H5, H6 or H7, these are American references to the same DIN battery.
